At Buff & Coat, we could talk and talk about the work we do to restore and refinish Richmond’s hardwood floors. But we know that a picture is worth 1000 words. So we’re happy to share a few before-and-after images from floor refinishing projects we’ve recently completed:

Re-staining a hardwood floor is a task best left to professionals. One reason is because re-staining requires first sanding down to bare wood – a process that can be messy and risky for someone without expertise. The benefit of sanding and re-staining is that your hardwood floor can end up looking as beautiful as it did when it was brand new. Here are before & after images that feature a test sanding to gauge the depth of the stain, and then a look at the re-stained, refinished – and wonderfully rejuvenated – floor.

There are several stages to refinishing a hardwood floor. This before image below shows a floor that has been repaired, sanded, and stained, but not yet refinished. This client opted for a high-gloss finish, but we also offer matte, satin, and semi-gloss finishes; the after image shows the now beautifully glossy floor:

Here in Richmond, many older homes feature carpeting that has been placed over hardwood floors that used to be beautiful. After years underneath a carpet, a hardwood floor is bound to be covered in unsightly residue. Our floor refinishing experts can often restore these floors to their former glory. Below is an example of what a carpet-covered floor can look like after a full buffing and a new finish:
