Buff & Coat is a small, specialist crew — not a big-box installer, not a general contractor with a flooring division. Hardwood is what we do, and it's the only thing we do.
What working with us actually looks like
You call, we come out — usually within a day or two — and walk your floors together. We take measurements, ask what finish direction you're leaning, note anything that needs attention, and email you a written flat-rate quote within 24 hours. If you want to hire us, we get you on the schedule (usually within 2–3 weeks). On the job, the same two-person crew shows up every day, works the hours we said we'd work, and cleans up meticulously before leaving.
What we don't do
Tile. Carpet. LVP. Laminate. Cabinetry. Painting. Trim carpentry beyond what a floor install requires. There are excellent contractors for all of those — we're happy to recommend the ones we've worked alongside. What we do is hardwood, and we do it at a level of care most generalists can't match.

How do I check that a contractor is reputable?
Ask for proof of insurance. Ask for local references you can actually call. Ask what happens if something goes wrong six months after the job. Ask for a written estimate with a firm price, not a range. We do all of those without being asked.
